Improved efficiency and CO2 free power supply

Iceberg

Vienna, January 9, 2008

eMedia has significantly reduced its environmental footprint by improving the power efficiency of our data center, therefore reducing power consumption. A switch to 100% renewable and CO2-free electricity reduces our carbon footprint to zero.

Using server virtualization is one key issue to enhance the efficieny of our Media Monitoring Center; but having the servers still work on 100% power while at fractional load is a waste of energy, too. Therefore eMedia has developed a new algorithm to dynamically control power-saving features like Cool'n'Quiet while having multiple virtual machines running.

In addition to reducing our power consumption, eMedia receives all its electric power from water dams only.

Our vendor Verbund not only provides us CO2 free energy made from waterdams, we also can rely on the largest power supplier in the region with best reliability.

While other companies claim to rely on 100% renewable energy, eMedia's power supply indeed is 100% carbon dioxide emission free !

eMedia Monitor's e-Mails digitally signed to help fight SPAM

no spam

Vienna, May 21, 2007

eMedia Monitor is a socially and environmentally responsible company. We have just upgraded our infrastructure to contributing our share to helping fight SPAM. All our outgoing e-Mails are now digitally signed to help recepient's e-Mail servers to identify that e-Mail from our servers is authentic e-Mail and not spam.

This measure helps e-Mail servers to lower the computational load on SPAM identification, because if all valid e-Mails are digitally signed, it is easier to tell the good guys from the bad guys apart.

For the technically interested people, here is what we do exactly: eMedia Monitor has added outgoing mail filters to add a Yahoo DomainKeys identification, a signature for Domain Keys Identified Mail, and information to its Internet Domain Name service for Microsoft Sender ID and Sender Permitted From.
